James Martin O’Connell Jr (Jim) died at home on October 19, 2022 after a brief and sudden illness. Born in Boston Massachusetts in 1949, Jim made Denver his home after serving in the United States Navy. A resident of Denver since 1973, Jim was an avid musician who played at venues all over the city and the mountains for close to 50 years, leading his own bands and working as a guitarist for hire. In addition, he ran a construction business that completed house renovation projects for clients all over Denver. Jim was also a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and perennially engaged in exploring history, politics, and culture. He will be greatly missed by his beloved son James Warner O’Connell, James’ partner Rachael Seewald, and his five-year-old granddaughter Violet Jane O’Connell. He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah St Cyr. He leaves his sister Trisha O’Connell and husband John Damroth of Watertown MA, his brother Philip and wife Claire O’Connell of Flanders NJ, his brother David and wife Susan O’Connell of Farmington NJ, a host of nieces and nephews, and close friend Farrell North among others.
