It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful, caring son, Jonathan Edward Schweiger, on April 25, 2022 in Breckenridge, Colorado.
Jonathan was born on September 8, 1986 in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in Sandy Springs, graduated from North Springs High School and then graduated with honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. For the past 18 years, he loved his work as an independent contractor forming his own company, Think First Designs at which he built prototypes and innovative software for new inventions. His business was very successful serving a client base throughout the country.
Jonathan brought so much love and joy into our lives. He was smart, athletic, accomplished, and helpful towards everyone. He always had a love for exercise and outdoors. Growing up, he participated in many sports and was an especially talented swimmer. He enjoyed scouting and earned the Eagle Scout Award. In 2014, Jonathan moved to Crested Butte, Colorado in search of living an active lifestyle in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. He lived on the mountain and became an avid skier. He enjoyed biking, hiking, and skiing every day. In 2016, he completed the Ironman Challenge in Boulder, Colorado. As his business could be conducted virtually anywhere in the country, he moved to Santa Barbara, California in 2019 and learned to surf. He only stayed a year there as he missed the Rocky Mountains and so he moved to Breckenridge, Colorado in 2020.
Jonathan will be remembered for his integrity, kindness and talent as well as his love for the outdoors. He is survived by his parents, Edward and Irene Schweiger, his sister, Kimberly Schreier and brother –in-law, Jonathan, his nieces, Addison and Callie, and his nephew, Reid. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Carol and Jeff Putter, Kathy and Michael Gaffney, Alan Schweiger, Mike Schweiger and Pat and Joy Schweiger. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at All Saints Catholic Church 2443 Mt. Vernon Road Dunwoody, Georgia on Thursday, May 26 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, to honor his legacy, donations can be made to the North Springs High School Swim Team or Sandy Springs Education Force to support future engineers.
