Joslyn Green

Joslyn Dorothy Green, age 81, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2024. Predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Butler Green, and her father, Joseph Collins Green, she is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tamara Morgan and her husband Roy, and her son, Jeff Leese and his wife Stacy, as well as by her brother Tucker Green and two grandchildren Benjamin and Elizabeth Morgan of Albuquerque. 

Born in Chicago in 1943 to a newspaperman and an English teacher, Joslyn’s learning path took her from a Bryn mar bachelor’s degree to a doctorate in Slavic languages and literature from the University of Indiana. She lived in Norway as an exchange student, Russia as an architectural tour guide, and Boulder as a writer. More recently, Joslyn lived in Denver, devoting her time to local gardening efforts, organizations, and writing groups. Joslyn lived an extraordinary life, pursuing knowledge with fervor, engaging in meaningful conversations that inspired those around her and challenged her intellectually. 

Joslyn always embraced the chance to dive into an unusual or unique opportunity… attending theatre in the evening, picking chokecherries the next morning, and then kayaking the following day. She was a warrior of poetry writing, journaling, gardening, and worrying about those she loved. She was ferociously proud of her grandchildren Ben and Elly. 

Those who knew Joslyn, or Jody, as some were allowed to call her, knew that she was the sharpest 81-year old you would ever meet. With quick wit, endless curiosity, and a real love of the outdoors, she was a wonderful and patient teacher, student, and her family and friend’s best cheerleader. She will be fervently missed. 

As her impulse was always to care for others, in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Grow Local Colorado, Heifer International or Project Worthmore. She will be greatly missed.
