Sherrie Lynn Glassmeyer

March 4, 1961 — June 25, 2015

Sher lived a full and happy life, always seeing the best in everyone and everything. She had a genuinely loving heart and her compassion extended not only to her family, but strangers as well. Sher always wanted to take care of other people and put others first.Sher was an excellent runner in her high school days, setting records in cross country events. She graduated from high school in 1979 and accepted a full track scholarship to San Diego State University. She chose to study fashion design. While on a training run one day, she was hit by a car and broke her leg. The compassion of her nurses while in the hospital inspired her so much, that she changed her major to nursing, ultimately becoming her life’s work and passion.Sher continued her education and in 1997 graduated from University of San Diego with her Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner. Sherrie’s compassion for those who struggled with emotional and mental disorders ultimately took her into Psychiatry. Her serving and compassion were not limited to her career.Sher strived to take care of her family, her friends, her dogs and even strangers she met in passing. She would always give money to people along the exit ramps who were in need. She wanted everyone to feel loved and know that they were valued. Our hope is that we can continue to show the same amount of love and compassion that Sher did.Sher loved the wind, the rain and snow, the smell of the desert in the morning, the howling coyotes at night, the clear warm waters of the Caribbean, Pacific, Atlantic, and Mediterranean seas – anything and everything nature. Her compassion and love of life will be with us forever.Sher is survived by her husband Dave Glassmeyer, her daughters Jessica Peterson, Sara Glassmeyer, and Megan Kuxhausen, her son Jake Glassmeyer, her granddaughter Olive Kuxhausen, her mother Kay Torrans, and her brother Del Torrans. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are sent to World Food Program in Sherrie’s honor at the following link: https://my.wfpusa.org/events/sherrie-glassmeyer-donations-to-world-food-program-usa/e53286
