Obituary for John Adam Koskovich

John Koskovich
John A. Koskovich 52, passed away on March 23 2016 in Denver Colorado, having grown up in the Denver area. John was a graduate of Smoky Hill High School and the University of Phoenix. He had worked at Brakes Plus for over 25 years.

He was very athletic, having run cross country in his younger years, and moving onto soccer and hockey as an adult. When his knees wore out he eventually moved to bicycling and has been very passionate about riding for years. He and his wife Elaine have been riding multiple day rides regularly, their favorite being the Bicycle Ride across Nebraska (BRAN). John made many good friends being involved in hockey, soccer and cycling. His other interests were coaching his son Alec’s hockey teams, camping/fishing, hunting, blues music and concerts. John, Elaine and Alec were avid live music fans.

He is survived by his wife Elaine and son Alec, father Kenneth, brothers Daniel and Charles and their families. John is preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine.

A celebration of his life will be held at a future date, with the scattering of his ashes at Lake Powell at his request. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association, in John's name.

Shocked-Overwhelmed-Impossible!!!! Those were my reactions when Danny told me of John's passing. I had recently visited with John and Elaine in the hospital in January shortly after his initial surgery. I told him that I was planning on organizing a party this summer and getting as many of our old teammates together for a last time reunion. He said he liked that idea and was looking forward to it and revisiting with the boys. Wasn't supposed to be like this! I met John in the mid 1980's through hockey and he was my defensive partner. Batman and Robin. Even though I'm 20 years older than John, I liked him right away. Always had that impish grin on his face even when they scored against us and it was his fault. I'm a better person after being part of the Koskovich clan. If I had a son, I would have wanted him to like John, a sincere smile on his lips, a twinkle of happiness in his eyes and honesty in his heart. I'll miss you Johnny Boy, you were a great husband, father, brother, son, friend and teammate. May God hold you in the hollow of his hand. -Keith

I only knew John for the last couple of years. I met him and Elaine on a bike ride across Nebraska in 2014. That meeting led to his joining me on the Colorado 4-H Bike team for the Pedal the Plains ride here in Colorado each year. From the first time I met him through every time I've been around him it was nothing but positive attitude, smiles, how can I help frame of mind, and a loving-life kind of outlook on things. That's what struck me about John and that's the example in "living a good life" that I've have gained from my "way-too-short-of-time" around this man. -Jeff Goodwin
